Grades 9 and 10 Confirmation Preparation  

During the two years of Confirmation preparation, students are invited to personalize their faith and develop an openness to the ways God is calling them to share their faith and gifts for the sake of their Church and the world.  Students will meet generally once per month on Mondays September through March. Occaisionally there may be more than one meeting in a month for a speaker or special event.  

SMALL GROUP LEADER PROGRAM
As part of the Confirmation preparation program for 9th and 10th grade students we are seeking SMALL GROUP LEADERS to facilitate discussion at three evening classes during the 2018/2019 program year.
   
SMALL GROUP LEADER positions are available for any student registered in the St. Jude 9th or 10th grade confirmation preparation program.  Responsibilities include leading a table of 6 – 10 classmates through classroom discussions, questions and other assignments.  Up to 15 positions are available.
Benefits of the SMALL GROUP LEADER position include credit towards the Community Service Hours requirement for Confirmation candidates.  Credit will be given for hours spent in training, meetings and classes.

Confirmation  Requirements

  1. The completion of grades 1 - 8 of faith formation is required to enter the Confirmation program.
  2. Confirmation candidates are required to complete both the 9th and 10th grades, including students attending a Catholic high school.  In addition to classes, 9th grade students must complete a minimum of 5 hours of community service. Confirmation candidates in 10th grade must complete a minimum of 5 hours of community service and attend the Confirmation retreat.
  3. Classes Students attend regularly scheduled classes approximately once per month.  If a class is missed at St. Jude, students may make up the class at St. Edward.
  4. Service  Grade 9 students are asked to complete a minimum of 5 hours of community service. Confirmation candidates in the 10th grade are also asked to complete an additional minimum of 5 hours of community service.  When a student's hours are complete a summary and reflection are to be turned in to the Faith Formation Coordinator.  (See form above) Service should relate to a Gospel message or to the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy.
  5. Retreat  All 10th grade students attend the Confirmation retreat.  If a student cannot attend the scheduled date, an alternative retreat must be found. 

Reconciliation 

In preparation for Confirmation a special 10th grade Reconciliation night will be scheduled.  More details will be posted here regarding the sign up process. Please use the link below to choose your preferred time.

Interviews

Fr. Stephen Zukas will interview all students preparing for Confirmation.  The interview will last 15 minutes and are in groups of 5 students.
