Parents Group of St. Jude Church

The St. Jude's Parents Group meets as a Parish Events and charitable outreach planning committee. Our goal is to organize family-friendly as well as Parish and service driven events. The events planning meetings typically gather once a month on a Wednesday at 10:30 AM and 7:30 PM at St. Jude's, Norfolk (unless otherwise noted). Please feel free to bring your little ones, if they are home with you.

Current & Upcoming Events & Service Opportunities:

Movie Night ~ Was such a success! A very special thank you to Marissa Keleher for organizing this event! Well done! Additionally, the Parents Group would like to thank those who donated items and time to making this event possible, especially Sue Bartlett for her graphic design talents & material, as well as our local Dunkin’ Donuts for donating the delicious Hot Cocoa! Any profits from this event will be used to help support the St. Jude Parents Group in creating more family-friendly, parish events & future fundraising events for local charities.

In this Holy Year of Mercy, the Parent's Group will continue collecting donations for My Brother's Keeper on a monthly basis. We have placed a bin at the entrance of the church and are asking for New or 'Gently Used' Sheet sets. My Brother's Keeper is a local Christian ministry group that assists families in need by delivering furniture, household items and food. Their number one need is for bed linens. Any item deemed unusable will be donated to the MSPCA. Thank you for your continued support.

‘New-to-You’ Cleat Swap!  Our spring sale date and price information will be announced in January, 2017.  If you have YOUTH sized cleats your children no longer need, please consider donating them to this bi-annual event.  We're continuing to collect cleat donations.  We're specifically looking for smaller youth sizes at this moment.  The bin is located next the side entrance just before the kitchen and will remain there until our next swap date is established in time for spring sports' opening days.

The Parents Group is also collecting New or ‘Gently Used’ First Communion Clothing, Shoes and Accessories for those in need at St. Angela-Merici parish in Mattapan.  This is an effort that started with one of our own parishioners, Maggie Pickard.  Maggie earned her Gold Award through the Girl Scouts of America last year, by demonstrating extraordinary leadership through this “Take Action” project.  A belated and very sincere congrats to Maggie, from the Parents Group. Thank you for being a true inspiration to us all!  We would like to continue Maggie’s efforts so that this project will have a sustainable impact on our community and others.  We have placed a collection bin in the hall downstairs and will deliver donations to St. Angela-Merici’s in the Spring.
